Mindful Living by Becky, Chanting Stork Yoga: Mindful Reflections 2022

December is a wonderful time to reflect on all that’s happened, things we’ve learnt and experiences we’ve had. Give yourself some kudos by acknowledging what you’ve accomplished.

As I reflect on 2022, one of my favourite quotes this year came from a stranger I met whilst travelling. We were both talking about quite disparate views on the experience we’d had in a Moroccan market. The Medina Markets are beautiful, colourful and at the same time intense and intimidating. I personally enjoyed it, and she hadn’t, but she said something quite profound, which was.

“You don’t have to enjoy the experience to enjoy having had the experience”

I loved that outlook so much that it’s stuck with me as the quote of the year.

Life is an experience; it has its twists and turns and there are bound to be times and events that you haven’t enjoyed or that haven’t quite gone to plan but it is still an experience you have had on this beautiful planet all the same and as everything in life we continue to surf these rhythms.

When I shut my eyes here are three of my top reflections of the year. I love:

Body Scans:

Meditations are so effective at reducing anxiety because they bring you into the present moment and I use them regularly when I need to feel more grounded and stable, they’ve been a constant throughout the year and something that’s incredibly precious to me as a stability ritual in life.

New experiences:
Moroccan Hammams – More about the body than mind but quite simply the most invigorating skin treatment I’ve ever had.

What I’ve learnt:
My limits – A lesson learnt in my life this year, we all have limits. If only to preserve and take care of us, I’ve learnt the limits of what I can give and learnt it’s ok to say NO to things and to draw a clear line around what is possible and not.

How about you? What are your reflections on the year? And how do you want to be in 2023? What is your highest expression of yourself?
Festive blessings and celebrations to you.

With love, Becky x
