Here are eight New Year’s resolutions to help you to strike a better work-life balance and increase your business success.

1. Learn to delegate and do more of it

You don’t have to do everything yourself. Let someone else do some of the tasks for a change. Delegation is the key to a healthy work-life balance.

2. Promote your business regularly and consistently

Don’t let promotion slip to the bottom of the list. If you want to attract new customers, you have to make promotion a priority.

3. Make business planning a weekly event

Business planning lets you take stock of what worked and what didn’t, set new goals and adjust old ones. Set aside time each week to review, fine-tune, and look forward.

4. Learn something new

Learning something new will add to your skills and add a new dimension to your life—another important part of achieving a healthy work-life balance and increasing your business success.

5. Give back to your community

Make this the year that you serve on a committee, be a mentor, a volunteer, or make regular donations to the community groups that try to make the place you live better.

6. Join a new business organisation or networking group

There’s nothing like talking to other business people for sparking new ideas, refining old ones, and making contacts. Whatever group you join, making an effort to be a part of it will revitalise you and your business.

7. Put time for yourself on your calendar

All work and no play is a recipe for mental and physical disaster – write time regularly into your diary to ‘meet with yourself’.

8. Set realistic goals

Set achievable goals, rather than unrealistic pipe dreams that are so far out of reach they only lead to frustration.
