Local runner’s marathon raises vital funds for North Herts charity, Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire.
Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire is celebrating the incredible achievement of Clifford Smith, who completed the London Marathon in support of our charity.
Cliff ran 26.2 miles through London on Sunday 26th April, finishing in 4 hours and 44 minutes despite the unseasonably warm conditions. It was an amazing achievement for a first-time marathon runner.
Cliff chose to support Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire for deeply personal reasons. We helped him and his late wife, Julie, during one of the most difficult times in their lives, after Julie was diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, Julie died aged 60 just after Christmas, but Cliff’s determination to run in her memory has been incredibly moving.
At the time of writing, Cliff has raised over £10,000. This will make a real difference to our work supporting people across North Herts and parts of South Cambridgeshire.
Many people know Citizens Advice as somewhere to turn in a crisis, but not everyone realises that Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire is a local charity. We are independent and rely on funding, grants and donations to keep our service running.
Each year, we help thousands of local people with issues including debt, benefits, housing, employment, family matters and the rising cost of living. Behind every number is a person or family trying to find a way forward.
We are hugely grateful to Cliff and to everyone who has supported him.
