Royston Health Walks is an independent social walking group that meets at the Heath Cafe on Wednesdays at 10am and 5pm for leisurely walks across Therfield Heath.
They are a very friendly and welcoming group that prides itself on being non-cliquey and positively inclusive. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join, regardless of age, level of fitness and in principle, state of health, even if it’s only for the refreshments. Their walks are free, you only pay for your brew.
In May, the group launched a campaign to raise funds to buy their own portable defibrillator to take on their walks.
They are delighted to announce that through the kindness and generosity of their group and its friends, they managed to raise £2,055 so they are not only able to buy the defibrillator but also an AED bag to carry it in.
They will be working with Laraine from the Royston Community First Responders and the Heath Café so they can have a solution for everyone regardless of the type of walk they are on (leisurely, slow/flat, more challenging).
The walking group is extremely popular, and have recently seen as many as 97 attendees either walking and/or joining them for lunch.
