Inflammation is a normal part of the body’s defence system to injury or infection and in this way, it is beneficial. But if it occurs in healthy tissues or lasts for a long time, inflammation can have damaging long-term effects. Inflammation may result from factors including, chemicals, bacteria, viruses, stress, life style and the foods we eat.
Inflammation may be silent but can manifest itself as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, depression or autoimmune conditions. But we can take control and reduce the inflammation in our bodies and in turn live healthier, happier, fuller lives. A few simple changes can make a huge difference. Reducing sugar and processed foods, learning to manage stress and increasing physical activity are great ways to begin. So many diseases we think are a ‘normal’ part of life are actually avoidable. Start with one change today.
