Royston Library re-opened to customers on 17th August. Things are a little different but you will find the same warm welcome. Although we received lots of positive feedback about our temporary Ready Reads service, our customers are now delighted to be able to browse the bookshelves again.
Visitors are able to enter the library for up to 15 minutes to browse the bookshelves and to use the self-service kiosks for borrowing and returning items. Social distancing measures are in place including queue management, screens on enquiry desks, hand sanitiser stations and quarantine areas for returned books. Customers will be expected to wear face coverings during their visit in line with government legislation.
Computers are available in one-hour slots for library members who have made a booking in advance. There will be 15 minutes between bookings to allow for cleaning. Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/libraries or by calling our Customer Service Centre on 0300 123 4049.
During the closure, our customers have been making excellent use of our online services, including eBooks and eAudio, online newspapers and magazines. We have also offered weekly Baby Rhyme Time sessions via our Royston Library Facebook page as well as a Saturday LEGO Club.
The Hertfordshire Libraries page have set up an online reading group and a Chatterfamilies group.
