Wise Local Crafter’s Group!! Our group has been busy this month!!
We are meeting every Thursday from 10.30am onwards at Eternit Sports & Social Club Meldreth. It has been a hive of creativity, socialising, sharing experiences and helping others start new crafts!!
We had our second monthly lunch club at The Hoops in Bassingbourn who looked after 16 of our ladies! Lots of light hearted chatting about a variety of subjects!! We are now planning lunch dates every month.
Another exciting event took place at Eternit Sports & Social Club, this was our first ever Craft Fair!! The sun was shining and locals enjoyed watching Shepreth Spitfires Football Tournaments of all ages, along with browsing handmade craft items made by local people. More dates for Craft Fairs to be planned!!

Join Wise Local Crafters – A Friendly Arts & Crafts Group!
Wise Local Crafters is a welcoming group for anyone who enjoys arts and crafts. Meeting every Thursday at Eternit Sports & Social Club, Whaddon Road, Meldreth (SG8 5RL), members can drop in anytime between 10.30am and 3.30pm to enjoy a relaxed and sociable creative space.
With over 30 members, the group provides an opportunity for crafters of all kinds – knitting, crochet, painting, papercraft, and more to work on their projects while connecting with like-minded individuals.
What to Expect
• A warm and friendly atmosphere for creativity
• Freshly brewed coffee from Hot Numbers (plus tea!) included in the £3 session fee
• Members are welcome to bring their own craft projects or simply come along for a chat and inspiration
• A supportive environment to share ideas, learn new skills, and build friendships
A Growing Community & Local Projects
• Wise Local Crafters is more than just a craft group – it is an active part of the community. Several members take part in local initiatives, including:
• Creating handmade poppies for Meldreth Parish Council’s memorial
• Crafting Easter treats for local care home residents
• Making keepsakes for Shepreth Spitfires Football Club
In addition to crafting, the group has introduced a monthly lunch club, with its first gathering at The Hoops in Bassingbourn receiving enthusiastic feedback. Plans are also underway for an upcoming Craft Fair, organised in collaboration with Eternit Sports & Social Club and Shepreth Spitfires Football Club – further details will be announced soon.
