Royston Museum Highlights by Emma: Coming up May…

In the 2000s, an archive of stunning costume designs, which included shows such as Dr Who and Blackadder, was donated to the Museum.

However, we knew nothing about their designer, Richard Croft. Following years of research, we have discovered not just his work but his life, including from those who knew him. Our latest exhibition celebrates this extraordinary designer and his creativity.

Richard Croft: Life and Designs is open during our normal opening hours until Sunday 12th July, and is free to enjoy.

Our upcoming events include:
• Museum Tots Dinosaurs: Wednesday 6th May
• Construction: Wednesday 3rd June
• Spark! Art Club: Thursday 14th May
• The Great Escapists – Operation Overlord: Thursday 14th, Friday 15th and Saturday 16th May
• Talk – 42, The Wildly Improbable Ideas of Douglas Adams: Wednesday 20th May
• May Half Term – Trains, Planes and Automobiles: Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st May

Plus, save the date for Green Festival 2026, organised in partnership with Royston Environmental Group, on Saturday 13th June, 10.30am to 3.30pm. Discover practical ways to live greener, enjoy hands-on activities for all ages, and explore stalls packed with ideas for a more sustainable future.
Finally, we’re looking for local young people to take part in this year’s Young Artist Open Exhibition on “Community”. Visit our website to find out how to take part. Submissions close on Tuesday 30th June.
