It happens! In the August issue of The Listing, details of the fabulous Rail & Ale Trail were published. However, between the magazine going to print and being delivered, a new website was launched and the website address changed.
Thank you to everyone who spotted the change and got in touch – The good news is that there is now a brand-new website for the Cam Valley Community Rail Partnership, bringing together inspiration for days out, information about the railway line, and ideas for supporting local stations, communities and sustainable travel.
Based around Foxton, Meldreth, Shepreth, Whittlesford Parkway, Shelford and the newly opened Cambridge South stations, the easy-to-navigate website highlights attractions including Wimpole Estate, Imperial War Museum Duxford, Shepreth Wildlife Park and Fowlmere RSPB, alongside independent cafes, pubs and attractions within walking or cycling distance of the stations.
More than 40 small rural businesses, including pubs, cafés, farm shops and attractions, stand to benefit from increased footfall, while village events and community days will help spread the word locally.

Launched by South Cambridgeshire District Council in partnership with the Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton Community Rail Partnership, the trail encourages visitors and local residents to explore South Cambridgeshire by train before enjoying scenic walks to welcoming village pubs.
The trail features five local railway stations and 16 village pubs, all within a leisurely 35-minute walk of a station. Along the way, walkers can discover beautiful countryside, picturesque villages and hidden local gems, while supporting sustainable travel and much-loved rural pubs.
Designed for all ages, the Rail & Ale Trail is a great way to discover more of South Cambridgeshire, support local businesses and enjoy the area’s stunning landscapes without relying on the car.
The free guide includes maps, suggested walking routes and information about each pub along the trail. As the booklet was originally published in 2024, visitors are advised to check opening hours, food serving times and other details before setting off.
