If you’re looking for something a little different this summer, why not discover the Rail & Ale Trail?
Launched by South Cambridgeshire District Council in partnership with the Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton Community Rail Partnership, the trail encourages visitors and local residents to explore South Cambridgeshire by train before enjoying scenic walks to welcoming village pubs.
The trail features five local railway stations and 16 village pubs, all within a leisurely 35-minute walk of a station. Along the way, you’ll discover beautiful countryside, picturesque villages and hidden local gems, celebrating the theme ‘More Than A Railway’ while supporting sustainable travel and our much-loved rural pubs.
Designed for all ages, the Rail & Ale Trail is a wonderful way to discover more of South Cambridgeshire, support local businesses and enjoy the area’s stunning landscapes without needing to rely on the car.
The free guide includes maps, suggested walking routes and information about each of the pubs along the trail. As the booklet was originally published in 2024, visitors are advised to check opening hours, food serving times and other details before setting off.
