News from Therfield Heath Conservation – Victoria Memorial Refurbishment

Talented stonemason, Stan Reynolds, has finished refurbishing the Victoria Memorial Fountain on Therfield Heath.

The drinking fountain was built in 1901 to mark the passing of Queen Victoria. After 122 years of British weather, the stone was left in need of some serious care.

The stones have now been re-pointed and all cracks filled with a lime-based mortar, and the cornicing has been repaired.

The memorial is now looking great once again and is ready to weather another 100 years on Therfield Heath.
