John O’Groats to Lands End (JOGLE) against the headwinds…

Harry Keam of Kelshall and his friend David Boyd of Saffron Walden cycled into Land’s End on Monday 5th June after completing the 874 mile journey from John o’ Groats.  The pair are aiming to raise £5,000 for Dementia UK in memory of David’s grandmother who died as a result of Alzheimer’s last year.  The 10-day ride was entirely self-supported – they carried all their own equipment setting up camp as they went.  The boys cycled just over 1,000 miles, climbing a total of 16,168m (nearly twice the height of Mount Everest) and spent 102 hours and 30 minutes in the saddle, burning a total of over 84,000 calories between them.  Harry described their trip as an “incredibly difficult but epic adventure” and was “overcome by the kindness and generosity of complete strangers”.

The finish line! – Herbert on the left pictured with strapping on his thigh (he got quite a serious hamstring injury a couple of weeks before the JOGLE doing rugby 7s training).
Both boys at the start of the epic cycle ride ahead of them – Apparently JOG to LE is harder due to the headwinds!
