A new chapter is beginning at Sheene Mill as local family business owners Levis and Kirsten Mendonca take over the much-loved riverside venue with a promise to preserve its charm while placing community at the heart of its future.
Having organised events across the country for many years, the couple say the arrival of their daughter, Aria, inspired them to create something more personal – a place they could call home.
“We fell in love with Sheene Mill instantly,” said Levis and Kirsten. “Since having Aria, we wanted to build something meaningful for our family and for the local community. This felt like the perfect place.”
Kirsten, who is passionate about cooking and hospitality, will help shape the food and guest experience, while Levis brings a strong background in hospitality, customer service, and corporate leadership.
The couple say they are determined to keep Sheene Mill warm, welcoming, and personal.
“We are not a large corporation – we are a family business, and our heart is fully in this,” they said. “While Sheene Mill will continue to be a beautiful destination for weddings and special events, we also want it to become a place the local community can enjoy every day – whether that’s coffee by the river, relaxed lunches, evening dining, family gatherings, or life’s most important celebrations. Every experience here will carry a personal touch from us as owners. We have invested everything into making Sheene Mill a success and a place the village can truly be proud of.”
The Mendoncas say they are looking forward to meeting residents and becoming part of village life for many years to come.
