Therfield Heath Conservation – Help Out The Heath
‘The Big Help Out’ is scheduled for Monday 8th May 2023 as a celebration of the coronation of King Charles III.
This dedicated bank holiday is perfect if you struggle to find the time to volunteer. If you have always wanted to try volunteering, there is no better opportunity to give it a go!
To mark the occasion our ranger will be running volunteering workshops throughout the day, schedule to be confirmed. If you fancy protecting a scheduled ancient monument, helping reduce plastic pollution across the site, maintaining footpaths for visitors to enjoy, or finding out more about our weekly volunteer opportunities, get in touch with our ranger at ranger@therfieldheath.org.uk to join our celebration of volunteering.

Therfield Heath is an excellent example of chalk grassland, one of the most species-rich habitats in Europe. Chalk grassland supports a huge range of species, many of which are rare, such as the beautiful pasque flower and the Chalkhill Blue butterfly. More than 80% of chalk grassland has been lost due to an increase in arable farming, and natural succession.
Our ranger works across the site to restore areas lost to scrub, protect ancient scheduled monuments from damage, maintain grassland in good condition, and help everyone enjoy the site responsibly. With 420 acres of grassland to improve and protect, help is always appreciated.
There is always something for everyone, and any time you can spare helps care for this special place. Please note, all children and young people must be accompanied by a parent or carer to help keep everyone safe.
