Out & About: The Mordens Art Trail…

The Mordens Art Trail

For the third year, local resident and artist, Gina Ferrari is organising an art trail around the villages of Guilden Morden and Steeple Morden.

Gina first thought of the idea of creating an art trail through the villages to give villagers something to focus on during lockdown in early 2021 but it proved so successful that it has become an annual event.

Gina says “The trail was so popular for the past couple of years that I decided to run it again to give people something to look forward to brightening up their walks. It has become an annual event on the village calendars. Also, making the art has given lots of people a creative outlet.”

Residents are joining in and creating art to display in a window of their homes or in their gardens from the 1st to the 30th April. The idea is to spread some joy and fill the Mordens with art, with everything from paintings and collages to prints and sculptures. People of all ages and abilities are taking part, from experienced artists to complete beginners and it has become an excellent art project for many families. Once again Gina is delighted that the children of both village schools are taking part too.

People can join the Facebook group for more information, where you’ll also find the trail maps to download.

Gina is drawing portraits of friends and local residents for her window display as part of a project to draw and paint 100 faces.
