The Friends Of Therfield Heath

The Heath is extra beautiful at the moment with many wildflowers at their best. As well as the familiar buttercups and daisies, keep a look out for the small light blue speedwell and even smaller purple geraniums hidden amongst the grass.

The Friends are holding a flower identification walk on Saturday 3rd July. The walk will be led by expert Claire Beale who is a warden at The GogMagogs. Check the Friends website or Facebook page for further details.

The next Friends litter pick will be on July 11th. The children’s smaller litter picks are on order and we hope they will have been delivered by then. Meet near the car park between 9.30am to 10am to collect your equipment. Everyone needs to be finished by 12noon.

Local artists joined in the Friends Landscape and Painting event in May. Led by Joan Munden, the rain held off and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you Joan! Another session will be planned, so keep an eye out for details if you want to take part.

Mistle Thrush, Meadow Pips, and Linnets were amongst the 14 different types of bird identified on our May bird identification and song walks. Both walks were well attended and we hope to repeat it at a later date. Our thanks go to Doug Radford for leading the walk.
