On Wednesday 9th October, North Hertfordshire District Council’s (NHDC) Royston and District Area Committee awarded grant funding to an organisation that offers local people the opportunity to explore the art of dance.
BEEE Creative CIC received £850* to help them run 60 creative movement workshops at the Royston Museum and Art Gallery. The workshops are aimed at families with preschool aged children and for older adults aged over 65. Over 500 people will benefit from taking part in these dance focused workshops which will take place between October 2019 and July 2020. BEEE Creative was set up in 2017 and is a community interest company that supports and delivers community projects which help people get involved in the arts.
Carrie Washington, Dance Consultant and Project Manager at BEEE Creative said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this funding that will enable us to offer a year of fun dance activity in Royston, for families and adults. This is a collaboration with Royston Museum and we are looking forward to working together to explore local heritage, but importantly creating a space that people can come together to learn some new dance skills, do a little exercise and meet new people.”
Cllr Tony Hunter, Chairman of NHDC’s Royston and District Area Committee said: “We are really pleased to be able to support this excellent organisation with their work. They will make a real difference to local people’s lives and we wish them the very best in the future.”
