Dysons Menswear is based on Market Hill in Royston, where they are specialists in Super Dry, Lyle & Scott and Douglas & Graham clothing, as well as offering a hire service for men’s lounge and evening wear, and a dry cleaning service.
Dysons Menswear has been in the town since 1934, and there are still people in town now who recall buying clothes for their school uniforms from the shop.
Many of you will know Dysons owner and manager, Trevor Hopkins.
Trevor started his career in 1976 in Eaden Lilly in Cambridge, then moved to work in Royston in 1992 in Clothing World on Orchard Road. Moving to work for Dysons after Ray King retired in 2001, and went on to take over the shop ownership in 2015.
Since then, Trevor has seen some huge changes in the town and in his shop. In the early 2000’s Levi 501s were the hottest selling jeans, and the Italian pastel coloured clothing brand Sonetti was the main stock.
Trevor has been supported by many residents who have worked in the shop, including familiar faces like Julie and Caroline, along with Trevor himself, a well known and loved character often seen walking to work along Newmarket Road with his “Dysons” bag in hand.
Trevor has provided countless suits for school proms and even more suits for weddings. Trevor has said that some grooms come in hours before the wedding, having realised they have nothing to wear. Trevor has never judged, just measured up and provided an appropriate suit for the big occasion.
Social media comments about Trevor often recount how people remember their fathers or brothers shopping there, coming back home with the signature white and gold Dysons bag.

Unfortunately, Trevor has decided to retire this year, and we are sure you will join us in celebrating this true Roystonian, who has given so many years to serving us in retail, and wish him well in his future retirement.
