Friends of Therfield Heath and Greens
The Friends of Therfield Heath and Greens had a stand at the Kite festival promoting our support and fund raising for the Heath.
Congratulations to Royston Rotary for organising such a successful day. It was lovely to see so many people enjoy being on the Heath. If you collected some seeded paper from the Friends stand let us know how you get on after planting it. Our new Chairperson, Hollie Christie, was on the Friends stand and was happy to meet plenty of visitors as well as the conservators who had the stand next door.
On 15th July the Friends Plein-Air Painting Group met at the Royston Allotments. It was such a good time of year, horticulturally speaking, and the artists had a rich variety of places to sit and sketch or paint. Our thanks to the allotments society, RAGA, for welcoming us onto your beautiful and well maintained site. Newcomers will always be welcomed at future events. The next one is on 21st September on Therfield Heath.
WHAT’S ON
Bat Walk on Therfield Heath Friday 9th September 19.15pm to 21.00pm. Further details of this fascinating look at bats on the Heath and how to book, can be found on the What’s On calendar on www.friendsoftherfieldheath.org.uk. Secure your place by booking soon as places are limited. This event raises funds for both The Friends of Therfield Heath and Greens and the Herts and Middlesex Bat Group.
Litter Pick on the Heath. Sunday 11th September. Collect your litter pickers and rubbish bags anytime between 9.30-10.30am. Find us between the café and tennis courts. Enjoy a walk across the Heath while you help to keep it clean. Take 30 minutes or up to 2 hours, it is your choice. We finish at 12noon. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather that day.
Plein-air Painting and Sketching group. Wednesday 21st September 10.00am to 12noon. Location this month is Therfield Heath. Meet by the Heath Café. New members of all abilities are always welcome to the group. Bring your own equipment and refreshments. £2 members, £3 non members.
