Escape to The City, Up at The O2

Escape to The City, Up at The O2

This month, we’re seeing London from a different perspective. This perspective is 52 metres in the air, with a 360-degree view of the city.

I am a keen adventurer; any activity that involves hiking or climbing gets approval from me. However, London is not a city that boasts many hills. Instead, in true urban style, head to East London where you can climb over one of the capital’s famous venues. The O2 Arena, known for hosting concerts and elite sporting events, offers a unique ‘Up at the O2’ experience, in which you can cross a walkway suspended over the arena. From the summit, you can spot the Olympic Park, Canary Wharf and other iconic attractions. On a clear day, you can see landmarks as far as 15 miles away.

There is no doubt that you will have worked up an appetite after your 90-minute climb over the O2. And of course, it wouldn’t be a London day out without some good food!

From North Greenwich Pier, take the Uber Boat westwards along the Thames, where you will pass famous landmarks such as Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast and Shakespeare’s Globe. Alight the boat at Bankside Pier and continue your journey on foot, as you wander along the vibrant Southbank.

As one of London’s top culinary locations, you won’t be short of food and drink options. From a sit-down meal at a riverside restaurant, or one of Southbank’s quirky, foodie pop ups, there is something for everyone. Finish your day with a drink or soft drink by the river Thames!
