Escape to the City… Queen’s Jubilee

Escape to the City… Queen’s Jubilee

Bringing a village fete atmosphere to the capital, Petersham Nurseries will celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by transforming Richmond into a summer fête and street party this bank holiday weekend.

The Jubilee weekend marks the Queen’s 70th year on the throne, and what better way to celebrate than with an extravaganza of street food, picnicking and performances, all set in London’s internationally prized plant nursery.

Taking influence from street parties happening up and down the country, Petersham Nurseries will be bringing a village-like feel to West London. You will be able to enjoy stalls serving British classics. From scones to scotch eggs, sausage rolls to coronation chicken, there will be no going hungry. And in true street party style, people are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets and head down to the river to enjoy their food al fresco.

If you are interested in plants, you will be able to enjoy a patriotic installation of seasonal plants, crafted by Director of Horticulture Thomas Broom-Hughes.

And if you need a break from the festivities, take a wander round the scenic Richmond Park, flick back through April’s issue of The Listing to read my ‘escape to the city’ piece on a day out in Richmond!
