Could You Benefit from Switching Your Bank Account?

At Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire, we know every penny counts. Having the right bank account can make managing your money easier, whether you’re looking for better customer service, improved online banking, lower fees or an account that better suits your needs.

If you’re thinking about changing banks, the Current Account Switch Service makes the process straightforward. It’s free to use and available through almost all major UK banks and building societies. Once you choose your new account, your new bank will handle most of the work, including transferring your balance, moving direct debits and standing orders, and arranging for your salary, pension or benefits to be paid into your new account.

You can choose a switching date that suits you, provided you give at least seven working days’ notice. Your new bank will keep you updated throughout the process.

Worried about missing payments? Any payments sent to your old account will be automatically redirected to your new account, with the sender notified of your updated details. The Current Account Switch Guarantee also means that if something goes wrong and you lose money as a result, your new bank or building society will put things right.

For those who prefer face-to-face banking, the Royston Banking Hub on Kneesworth Street offers a convenient local service. Customers can access cash and counter services, regardless of which major bank they use, helping to keep essential banking available on the high street.
