Community News: An Inspiration to Youngsters by Clive Porter

As part of Royston newcomer Bow Books continuing commitment to the local community its owner, Paul Bowes and his staff hosted a complimentary children’s competition to the town’s September Art Festival.

The main thrust of this was aimed at youngsters under 12 to design a Christmas Bookmark and encourage their creativity as well as inspiring them to read more and collect books.

Royston Mayor, Cllr. Lisa Adams, presented 11 year old Amelia, a student at Kings James Academy, with the prize of 50 printed bookmarks of her winning design in the ‘Children’s Den’ at the bookstore. Lisa also awarded Amelia’s sister, Louisa, aged 7, from Icknield Way Primary School, one of five runners up, with Bow book tokens. The six top design entries are currently on display at Bow Books.
