The concept for the Honest Fig was born on a cold and wet Sunday evening as true Strictly Come Dancing fans, Linda and Chris, along with their neighbours, sat down to watch the dance off with some cheese and meats and of course a glass of wine. 
Linda realised that grazing boards with good quality cheese could be an interesting business idea so after completing a food hygiene course and achieving a five star food hygiene rating from the council, she decided to launch The Honest Fig on 1st December 2021. Little did she know that two years later, they would be opening their very own Cheesemongers and Grazing Company in The Corn Exchange, Royston.
The idea to develop the Honest Fig into a Cheesemongers came from realising in January 2022 that there was no cheese stall in Royston Market on a Saturday. So after a very productive call with Rob the Market Manager, Linda decided to do a six week trial to see what would happen. That six week trial turned into 18 months of growth. From a single pitch, The Honest Fig grew into a double pitch and a successful business. Linda was also working full time during this period so it was while they were having a break in France in September (eating lots of cheese of course!) that Linda and Chris decided it was time to take The Honest Fig to the next step and for Linda to give up her full time job, follow her dream and open the shop. 
The response and feedback has been nothing short of amazing. The support the town has given to them has been very positive with people turning out on their first day with gifts and flowers, a true testament to the people of Royston and how welcoming they are.
Linda and Chris along with their Saturday boy Charlie, enjoy spending time with customers, sampling cheeses and talking through their choices. They are proud of the cheeses they sell from an amazing selection of British and Irish cheese to French, Italian and Spanish cheeses, with their selection changing all the time with new and interesting cheeses arriving.
