Community News: Royston Health Walks Steps Up for Community First Responders

Royston Health Walks is very proud to report we have raised £871 for the Royston Community First Responders through our Quiz Night at Sheene Mill on Friday 14th August.

You may not know very much about the Royston Community First Responders but: This year so far, the 5 CFRs in Royston have volunteered 820 hours, attended 114 life critical emergencies and were first on scene 92% of the time, which would have helped save that person’s life. They receive limited government funding and exist to a large extent on grants and donations, we need to help them help us, they make a difference and save lives, they need and deserve our support.

Our quiz was won by the ‘Green Team’. They are the inaugural winners of the Richard Schramm Memorial Trophy. This is the first time we have held an event at Sheene Mill and we couldn’t be more pleased. We were very well looked after and the food was excellent; we will be back.

Royston Health Walks is a friendly, independent social walking group, meeting every Wednesday at The Heath Café, Baldock Road, Royston. Morning walks start at 10am, with a choice of a leisurely 1½-mile walk across Therfield Heath or a slower, flatter walk. Afternoon walks start at 2pm from October to April and 5pm from May to September, again with two options to suit different abilities.

All walks are friendly and sociable, with groups meeting afterwards for a well-earned brew at The Heath Café. Everyone is welcome, whatever your age or fi tness level – and you’re welcome to join them just for refreshments too!
