The Great Chishill Windmill Trust (GCWT), with the kind permission of the land owner, hosted their second snowdrop event in February.Â
The 12-acre site between Royston and Harston has been lovingly planted with snowdrops and aconites personally by the owner over more than three decades.
The week before had been very wet and there was a narrow decision to proceed after an inspection on the Friday. Fortunately, Saturday dawned quite bright with only slight showers forecast. This didn’t stop over 150 visitors from enjoying the natural beauty of the site. GCWT volunteers provided refreshments and stewardship. Just over £1000 was gratefully received in donations for the support of the windmill.
If you’d like to view the windmill and see the work of the Trust then this year’s summer opening begins on Sunday 7th April.
