News from Icknield Walk First School…

On Friday 5th May, the children at Icknield Walk First School enjoyed a range of activities linked to King’s Coronation.

Deputy Headteacher James Taylor led a whole school assembly in which he explained how this was history in the making. He encouraged the children to think about how they feel on ‘special days’ and how Charles may feel at different points of the day during his Coronation. He explained to the pupils how Charles is well known for his love of plants and the environment and as such, the school had chosen to acknowledge the Coronation by gifting every child a plant which they brought home at the end of the week.

James Taylor said, “Staff at Icknield Walk First School would like to thank Arrington Garden Centre for their generosity in supplying the plants at a discounted price. Andy, the manager, really went the extra mile to help make sure each child got something special. In addition, Beckie Sole, who runs our kitchen gave up additional time to bake each child a crown shaped biscuit which we were then able to bejewel thanks to a donation from Tesco of jelly tots”.

Beckie and her team always go above and beyond to make the children smile.
