Discover over 2000 years of Royston’s story… by Royston Museum
It’s been a joy to be able to welcome visitors back to the museum again, and we’ve been delighted by the positive feedback.
We reopened our newly-renovated museum last month and are now open every Thurs – Sun, 10am – 4pm. Do pop in and see us.
We have over 2000 years of Royston’s history on display; from Saxon jewellery to World War 2 missiles. We’ve also launched our brand-new website, where you can find all our latest visitor information and news. Soon we’ll be introducing an Explore page, so you can learn about Royston; an Activities section, with free resources and education packs; and an online Archive, to collate articles and research, so Royston’s history is more accessible than ever.
Behind the scenes we’ve had a beautiful, new museum-grade exhibition case installed – one which is safer for both the objects on display and the people handling it. It’s already being used to showcase some of our gorgeous Roman pots and archaeological finds.
We’ve been planning some exciting events too. From 28th July – 25th August, we’ll be running Mystery at the Museum, with a different mystery to solve each week. 5 weeks, 5 mysteries. Solve each mystery to earn a stamp and collect all 5 stamps to win a prize! Every Thursday and Friday, there’ll also be themed arts and crafts activities.
And it’s all completely free!
Plus, on Saturday 6th August, we’re celebrating the museum’s reopening with a Royston Summer Fete! Join us for a full day of good old family fun, including stalls, fete games, arts and crafts, Viking re-enactments, a tombola and more! It’s free to enter.
