Wellness Coaching: Jane Casey

Wellness Coaching: Jane Casey

Years ago, a colleague called me ‘a fixer’. I didn’t understand what she meant at the time.

Although constantly feeling the need to step in and fix things for others may be with good intention, it can come at the detriment of the ‘fixer’. It may originate from the fixer’s own past experiences & consequent insecurities. Trying to ‘fix’ other people or situations may fill a void in their life. But it can lead to negative feelings of failure if they can’t change or help the situation. As adults, it is always our responsibility to help ourselves – with support of others, if we choose.
We can’t change other people, nor should we try!

Once I learned that it was not my responsibility to ‘make everything ok’ for everyone else, it was a relief! My wellness coaching clients are learning this too. Hurray!
