Spotlight On… Royston Round Table

Spotlight On… Royston Round Table

Royston Round Table is an organisation aimed at developing friendship amongst men between the ages of 18 and 45.
We welcome members from any background and pride ourselves on being a very diverse organisation.

We aim to meet a minimum once or twice a month to do something different. This can simply be going out for a meal or a drink but can also mean throwing tomahawks and truck driving.

The events are generally local, in and around Royston and the local villages. At times we go further afield, having close relationships with other Round Table Groups, like Cambridge and St Neots.

Because our program is discussed and agreed upon by our members there will be something for everyone. Members though, are under no obligation to attend every event.

Another important part of Round Table is our commitment to the local community. Our charitable events raise significant amounts every year which are distributed back to local charities. Our major event in the year is the Santa Float, which runs for around 2 weeks in December and involves not only the Round Table members, but also volunteers from several other organisations.

Although our members are men aged between 18 and 45, our sister organisation Ladies Circle is open to female members of the same age range, whilst there is 41 Club and Tangent representing the interest of members over the age of 45.

With the increased incidence of poor mental health, particularly in men, members of Round Table have commented benefits of joining Round Table include:
– Dedicate some time for yourself,
– Building lifelong friendships,
– Meeting like-minded people from the local community.
– Find new interests
– Build relationships
– Manage stress levels
– Living a more active life

Giving back to the society by raising funds and running activities that benefit the local community can be very rewarding and bring a sense of purpose and fulfilment by seeing the impact of our work, which is of utmost importance as the cost-of-living crisis hits so many families.

Our next two events are:
June – Pub Games Night. Date and location tbc
July – Tomahawk Throwing, Archery and BBQ. Date and location tbc
