Spotlight On… Girlguiding Royston District

Girlguiding has been a part of Royston for over 100 years and it is still going strong.

A lot has changed over the years, but the core of what we do is the same: through fun, friendship and adventure we empower our members to discover they can do anything!

We have lots of fun in our units of Rainbows (4 to 7), Brownies (7 to 10), Guides (10 to 14) and Rangers (14 to 18), but are also an active part of the community. The Promise, that unites us with 10 million members across the world, calls us to serve our community. In Royston, as a district we do this by being involved in events such as the May Fayre, The Royston Arts Festival and The Remembrance Day Parade. As units, we do things like regular litter picks, visiting the elderly residents at Kings House and Richard Cox House, and support local charitable events like Royston Rotary Club’s Swimathon. We believe one good turn leads to another!

Girlguiding Royston District continues to thrive, with over 200 members and full waiting lists, but we are always in need of volunteer leaders, especially for our Rainbow units. Volunteers (along with our members) get to meet new people, grow in confidence and have adventures, and be an active part of the community.
