Royston Christmas Lights Switch On
The annual Royston Christmas Lights Switch On, organised by Royston First BID, will take place on Friday 24th November 2023 at Fish Hill from 5pm.
For the first time ever, this year’s event will be hosted by Star Radio to help kick-start the festive season in style. The event will commence at 5pm, with live performances on stage by Tom Huttlestone and students at Limitless Academy. The main event of the Christmas Lights Switch On, will be at 7pm.
Local businesses will be at the heart of the festivities, with a variety of stalls offering unique holiday gifts, delicious treats, and seasonal delights. This will be a wonderful opportunity for members of the public to support and celebrate the diverse business community that makes Royston so special.
One of the highlights of this year’s celebration is a new “Local Hero” campaign, an initiative to recognise and honour unsung heroes within our Royston community.
Royston First BID Manager, Paul Brown, said of the campaign;
“Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond to make Royston a better place? Is there a neighbour, friend, or family member whose selfless acts have touched your heart? Now is the time to nominate them as a potential “Local Hero” who may receive the honour of illuminating our town’s Christmas lights!
All community members are invited to participate and nominate your ‘local hero’ before the deadline of 6th November. Maybe you’ll nominate someone who has made Royston a more vibrant and caring community.
The winner will be chosen by the Royston First BID Directors and announced on 10th November. We look forward to receiving your nominations in our quest to recognise and celebrate Royston’s “Local Heroes.”
