As part of the Royston Arts Festival this year we are very excited to be offering our visitors something a little bit different.
There will be a rare opportunity to attend an art workshop within the unique cave itself. But how will the artists who attend encapsulate this year’s theme of Arts in Motion?
It could be how the cave has changed through time, or how the motion of water through the chalk has sculptured and changed the caves features, or maybe how the carvings blend into each other and move around the cave’s walls. We do look forward to seeing the completed works of art!
This one-hour, untutored workshop will be restricted to 10 visitors, and the medium of choice will be pencils, chalks and charcoal. There will be A4 clipboards, some media and paper available but artists are also invited to bring their own equipment if they prefer. However, due to the conservation restrictions of this Grade 1 Scheduled Monument, you will not be able to bring easels, tripods or chairs into the cave and no paints or water will be allowed.
The date of this exclusive session will be Wednesday 25th September, at 7pm and the cost will be £8 per person.
