Tulip Picking at Bury Lane
We’re so lucky to have Bury Lane on our doorsteps here in Royston and even more so to witness the breathtaking fields of colourful tulips when they bloom. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting with my mum and niece after seeing countless captivating photos shared on various social media platforms, and I must say, we weren’t disappointed. We were astounded by the diverse array of tulip colours on display!
Armed with our scissors (and cameras), we strolled through the fields, soaking in the picturesque scenery and carefully selecting which tulips to bring home. It was so nice to see people of all ages, including many families, enjoying the tulips and sunshine.
While the tulip season has come to a close, keep an eye out for more “Pick Your Own” events throughout the year at Bury Lane, with peonies being the next highlight. And of course, after exploring the fields, we took a leisurely stroll around the garden centre, shop, and café, where we indulged in a few extra treats. The beautiful weather certainly added to the experience, and the entire centre, both indoors and outdoors, carried a relaxed atmosphere. Whether it was the Play Barn or the outdoor play area, the sounds of children’s laughter filled the air. With ample free parking available, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Bury Lane!
Top tip… There is no entrance fee to pay and the route is very well signposted. You simply pay for the tulips on your way out. Just remember to bring your scissors!
The visit can be quite boggy in places, and therefore not suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. There were quite a few benches to sit down for a rest and enjoy the views. Assistance dogs only for your visit.
Keep an eye out for future “Pick Your Own” events, with peonies, strawberries, dahlias and pumpkins coming up this year.
