Mindful Living: Setting Intentions

Setting intentions are a positive way to plant seeds of our dreams and desires, and the start of a new year is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the year ahead.

Past experiences can be our greatest teachers… and we can use them to be able to learn, gain knowledge and skills to grow from, especially if we take a minute to reflect on the positivity and negativity, as it’s the reflection that provides insight.

How do you want to be in 2023? What is your highest expression of yourself?
Setting good intentions and journaling my way into 2023 is high on my list but as are the experiences I like and learn from.

Here are my tips for setting good intentions:
• Before your feet hit the floor, pause and express gratitude for each new day.
• Place your hands on your heart and make an intention about you. How do you want to be in the world?
• Breathe into your heart and let it resonate with you so you can embody it.
• Phrase your intention positively and in the present moment. For example, if you want to focus on your health: “I am healthy”
• List your intentions (yes there can be more than one), writing is an excellent way of processing thoughts and emotions.
• From this intentional place you now have a compass point for your day, month and year ahead.

“May your life be like a wildflower, growing freely in the beauty and joy of each day”
Native American Proverb
