A Beautiful Way to View the World
In a fast-paced world, it’s easy to focus on what’s missing or what’s next. Gratitude pulls us back into the beauty of the present moment. As Melody Beattie writes in Make Miracles in Forty Days, “Gratitude isn’t a tool to manipulate the universe; it’s a way to open our hearts and stop trying to control the outcome.”
One simple, powerful practice is keeping a daily gratitude journal. Each night, write down three things you’re grateful for – big or small. Over time, this trains your mind to look for the good, even in hard moments. It doesn’t have to be profound; “sunlight through my window” or “a kind text from a friend” is enough.
The key is consistency.
To implement this in your life, link it to something you already do daily – like brushing your teeth or turning off your phone before bed. That way, it becomes a habit, not another item on your to-do list. You’ll start to feel a shift: less stress, more presence, and a deeper sense of connection and appreciation of your life.
As we move into May; a season of renewal and growth, it’s the perfect time to recommit to practices that ground and restore us. Gratitude is one of the core rituals we explore on my yoga retreats, through journaling, movement, and quiet reflection. Chanting Stork yoga retreats aren’t just getaways – they’re intentional spaces to reset, reconnect, and return home to yourself. If you’re ready to recharge and realign with yourself and others, I’d love for you to join us.
Gratitude is just the beginning. What do you feel grateful for today?
