Mindful Living by Becky – Chanting Stork Yoga… Hygge in December

December is the perfect time to embrace hygge, the Danish concept of warmth, cosiness, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

I love the whole idea of slowing down, getting warm and cosy, and savouring simple moments with good people.

Here are a few of my favourite ways to “get hygge” this December:
1. Fairy Lights and Comforting Spaces: Transform a corner of your home with fairy lights, soft blankets, and candles. Use this space to unwind, read a good book, or sip a cup of tea—simple comforts that help you relax and recharge.
2. Enjoy Daily Rituals: Carve out time each day to appreciate small routines like brewing a morning coffee, journaling, or going for a winter walk. These little acts, done mindfully, can bring immense calm and satisfaction.
3. Savour Simple Gatherings: Hygge is about connection, so invite friends or family over for a relaxed evening at home. Share a simple meal, enjoy a few laughs, start a book club, and let go of work or other stressors.

By weaving these small, intentional habits into your daily life, you can experience warmth and peace that brighten the winter season. Embracing hygge helps you care for yourself and find joy in the everyday.

This December, I’ll also be bringing hygge into my yoga practice, teaching slower and more mindful sessions, with warm, cosy studio spaces, and meditations that calm the nervous system and create a feeling of love and kindness.
