Some of our eagle-eyed readers might recognise our May 2025 cover images – haven’t we used these before?!
You’re absolutely right! These stunning pencil drawings by talented artist Gemma Usher were previously featured on our covers back in May 2020, in honour of the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
At the time, the country was in lockdown due to COVID-19. Like so many other businesses, we had to adapt quickly to the changing restrictions. With limited guidance, and safety our top priority, we made the difficult decision to release a digital-only edition of The Listing for that month. (We did print a limited run of 500 copies, which were made available at key locations.)
Sadly, this meant that many of our readers never had the chance to fully enjoy the beautiful cover art we had commissioned. So now, five years later, we’re thrilled to bring these illustrations back for 2025, this time in celebration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Looking back at our May 2020 edition, it really does capture the spirit of that unique moment in time. Reading through the issues has been quite humbling for our team here, as we appreciate just how quickly our community adapted to the world we found ourselves in, and how quickly we, as a team, changed our editorial focus to provide support and uplifting stories for our community. We can all be incredibly proud of how we, as a community, came together during such a difficult time.
