Friends of Therfield Heath and Greens
In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Friends will be planting a tree on the Heath.
Two members of the committee will soon be visiting a specialist tree nursery to choose the tree and take advice about its planting and care until it is established.
Every organisation in the UK that is taking part in the Queen’s Green Canopy can receive £50 towards the cost. (You can find out more about the initiative here: www.queensgreencanopy.org)
Any extra costs involved in the purchasing and planting of the tree will be met by the Friends. The tree will be delivered for planting in the autumn.
In April, 15 people enjoyed a spring flower identification walk along the Eastern edge of the Heath. The walk also included the flowers of the trees in that area.
We are going “off heath” for the second Plein-Air art session this month. The location will be Burloes Hall. These art sessions are open to non-members as well as members.
For more information on the art session or any of the FOTH events, visit the What’s On page at www.friendsoftherfieldheath.org.uk and check out The Listing What’s On in the magazine and online.
