Community News: Local Quiz Raises over £1,000 for the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT)

Royston Rotary President, Derek Pinner

More than 100 quizzers went head-to-head to raise more than £1000 for the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) in a competition organised by the Royston Rotary Club. The event, on 18th January, at the town’s St Mary’s Church Hall, involved more than 14 teams of problem solvers.

This year’s Rotary President, Derek Pinner, who nominated ACT as the club’s chosen charity, said afterwards: “I feel it was an excellent evening, and much fun was had by all. I’d particularly like to thank Philip Martin, our very able Question Master – not an easy task, with dozens of contestants to control, but he made an excellent job of being both firm and fair.”

Questions covered a multitude of topics, including Inventions and Icons, Silhouettes and Sport, Events in 2024, Motoring and several more categories.

At half time all enjoyed a ploughman’s supper prepared and served by Rotary Club members and helpers. This – together with drinks served throughout the evening – assisted the brain power of the teams!
