Community News: Christmas Shopping On Royston Market

Royston Market is a vibrant and important hub on the Market Hill in the town, trading on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Its origins go back to when Richard 1st chartered the initial stalls in 1189.

Many traders have patronised the site for a number of years, and the offering has been enriched with an intake of newer businesses, bolstering the selection of available commodities.

From wet and shell fish, high grade meat products, fresh  fruit/veg,  and individual bakery creations to flowers and garden plants, clothing, pet food, homeware, and golfing accessories, the list is endless.

On Saturday 14th December, the annual special Christmas Market kicks off with an ever wider spectrum of seasonal goodies.

From 8am till early afternoon, Royston Market Manager Rob Mills promises an action packed day full of special family treats.

“There will be something for everyone at this year’s special day”, he has announced. “Not only will we have a full Market of our regular trusted traders but they will be joined by other Royston retailers. Superb cheeses from the Honest Fig will be available, along with a wide selection of  alcoholic accompaniments from Cambridge Wine Co, and the local Buntingford Brewery.”

Much of the area will take on a Festive look with stalls offering Christmas toys and decorations, handmade by the Royston Reindeer Co, as well as Christmas Trees and beautiful wreaths. Food options will be available from Meat Up Cams, and the Honest Fig will tempt the taste buds with jacket potatoes containing a selection of  their delectable melted cheeses.

As an extra bonus traders will be donating produce and vouchers will be raffled off to shoppers in a free prize draw, with Royston First offering free mulled wine , cupcakes and other festive treats.

Come along, bring the family, and enjoy yourselves.
