Business Profile: Royston Vets – Keeping Your Pets Safe at Christmas

Christmas is the time for eating, drinking and being merry, but lots of our favourite festive foods are toxic and fatal to our dogs, and should be kept well out of paw’s reach.

Toxic foods to avoid this Christmas: Chocolate, Grapes, Christmas Pudding, Mince Pies, Dried Fruits, Macadamia Nuts, Alcohol and Sweets containing Xylitol. This is only a few to mention. Amongst foods there are certain plants that are toxic to our pets too, including Poinsettia, Holly, Mistletoe and Ivy. It’s advisable to keep these out of reach to avoid unnecessary visits to the Vets. Try to keep decorations and baubles out of reach to avoid ingestion and blockages and not to place presents that are edible under the tree.

If you think your pet has ingested foods that are fatal and toxic please contact the Royston Veterinary Centre on 01763 242221, Flint Cross, Royston, SG8 7PN, there is easy access to the practice with ample car parking.
