How we identify ourselves is up to us. How others identify us is up to them (let go of what you can’t control).
Being part of ‘a community’ other than our work or family is so important for our wellbeing. Our job doesn’t define us, neither does our family, our name, our reputation or our past – unless we want it to.
Being part of a positive group of like-minded others, having interests outside of work and family is vital to create feelings of belonging, purpose, safety, support and happiness. It stimulates our brain, thoughts, personal growth and conversation and is central to our experiences as human beings. Community unites us and can help us to feel ‘whole’ and fulfilled, making us feel like ‘Us’.
