Meet The Alpacas & Cria Capers During the Summer Holidays…

Why not consider Alpaca Walking an unforgettable experience just 15 minutes drive from Royston.

Yew Tree Alpacas, based in the picturesque village of Anstey, near Buntingford,  offers a fabulous Alpaca walking experience in the East Hertfordshire countryside. It’s a fantastic day out for a special occasion or treat for yourself and makes a fantastic present for that animal/alpaca mad friend or relative.

New for 2024 – Cria Capers – Enjoy a memorable evening with baby alpacas and their mums at feeding time and evening play.  You’ll learn about alpaca breeding and some of the Yew Tree experiences over our 13 years of breeding before spending time in the fields watching the mums and their cria. There will be a chance to feed the mums and watch the baby alpacas as they play together in the evening sun often taking a chance to refuel at mum’s milk bar!

This experience finishes with refreshments and homemade cakes. Total 1.5 hrs – Adults £25 / Children (6-15 years) £15

2024 dates

  • Wednesday 31st July – 6pm
  • Wednesday 28th August – 6pm

There are three types of walking experiences:

1 – The Alpaca Mini Walk Event duration 2hrs – Includes a 15-minute walk around our fields at Yew Tree, this is for the slower walker and is more an amble than a conventional alpaca walk. If the group needs to stop this will be possible. If you are a little nervous, have no experience with animals or are worried about the speed you walk you should book this option. Children 10-15 years old can book 1-1 alpaca on this option only.

Price 1 person walking 1 Alpaca (with cream tea and cakes) £35.00 / 2 people sharing 1 Alpaca (with cream tea and cakes) £65.00

2 – The Alpaca Walk ExperienceEvent duration approx. 2.5hrs – Includes a 30-minute walk around picturesque fields and parkland at the alpaca’s home location. This is the easiest of the two main walks but does require you to be able to walk confidently without assistance.

Price 1 person walking 1 Alpaca (with lunch or cream tea and cakes) £45.00 / 2 people sharing 1 Alpaca (with lunch or cream tea and cakes) £80.00

3 – The Extended Countryside WalkEvent duration approx 3.5hrs – Includes a one-hour walk with your alpaca in the open countryside with wonderful views across open countryside. This is more demanding than the walk experience and includes an uphill walk. You need to be confident you can walk at a regular walking pace and hold the lead rope if your alpaca pulls suddenly.

Price 1 person walking 1 Alpaca (with lunch or cream tea and cakes) £55.00 / 2 people sharing 1 Alpaca (with lunch or cream tea and cakes) £95.00

All walks included homemade cream tea and cakes or lunch (depending on the date selected), feeding and mingling with the alpacas, and lots of photo opportunities

Alpaca events for non-walkers/Children under 10 yrs – If you are looking for an alpaca event suitable for those who would prefer just to meet and feed the alpacas (and not walk) look at  Alpaca Adventures (no walking) 6 years + or an  Alpaca Walk for children 10 years + only.
