Caring Herts CIC exists to support older members of the North Hertfordshire and Stevenage community who are experiencing loneliness or social isolation, giving them confidence to live well and enjoy life to the fullest.
The effects of social isolation and loneliness in people of all ages can be as detrimental to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day and, with around 200,000 older people in the UK not having had a conversation with a friend or relative in more than a month, we want to raise awareness and help people reconnect with their community.
We currently run 15 Wellbeing Hubs a week, consisting of seated exercise and offering companionship, advice, a listening ear and, most importantly: fun. This includes our Healthy Memory Café, designed for those with dementia and a loved one/carer to attend together. We have regular feedback from our Community Members that call our hubs ‘A lifeline’.
