Survivors Against Domestic Abuse
Domestic Abuse is defined as any incident of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of their gender or sexuality.
This is how Domestic Abuse is defined, but it does not in any way express the difficulties and hardships Domestic Abuse can bring to individuals and entire families. There was not always an understanding of this nor was there help available, but things have moved on. We are SADA, Survivors Against Domestic Abuse. Our service offers a huge range of support for anyone experiencing Domestic Abuse. Support is tailored to the client’s needs on a one to one basis to help keep them and their keep family safe.
SADA has expanded its “safe space” accommodation during the COVID pandemic and can offer those fleeing abuse a safe place to stay. Our 21 safe spaces are furnished and stocked with food and other essential items. The accommodation is available to men and women, single people and those with children.
The service can also support clients with improving home security and installing safety measures in the home, Safety Planning for individuals, 1-to-1 Support from a Specialist Support worker, signposting to other partners, help around court orders and legal action, support with housing/fleeing/keeping safe, weekly drop in service, other courses and many other means to support.
