Keith Gypps is a keen amateur wildlife photographer who has been taking photographs for around twenty years.
We are delighted to feature his work, which is always hugely appreciated by visitors to Royston Reporting Page where he shares his photography, on the front cover of October’s magazine.
Brought up in a gamekeeping and farming family, it was perhaps inevitable that he would develop a lifelong love of the countryside, wildlife and the great outdoors.
Photography has become a way for Keith to combine that love of nature with his fascination for natural history. He specialises in birds and mammals, while more recently developing his macro photography. One of his favourite subjects is the Brown Hare, and he feels particularly fortunate to have a good population locally.
For Keith, one of the great thrills of wildlife photography is never knowing what he might see or photograph. He can often be found with his camera walking around the local countryside, particularly on Therfield Heath or at RSPB Fowlmere, simply seeing what turns up. The photos featured were taken in Fowlmere.
Keith holds ARPS and CPAGB distinctions and is a member of Cambridge Camera Club and the Royal Photographic Society Nature Group. His photography has included a runner-up place in Birdwatching magazine’s Bird Photographer of the Year and, more recently, winning The Wildlife Trusts’ Wild Snaps photography competition.
For Keith, photography is ultimately about being outdoors, observing wildlife and enjoying the natural world.
