Sun Smiles As Families Hunt Reindeer

The weather smiled on the annual Royston Christmas Trail around Royston Town Centre on Saturday.

The popular event, organised as part of the season’s Festive activities in the Town, drew extra crowds this year with families touring the streets seeking out the ten reindeer hidden in shop windows, and on the Market stalls. They were required to locate the number next to the reindeer, and return the completed form to the grand old man himself at his grotto on Fish Hill Square, where he had earlier arrived in his sleigh.

There were long queues to visit Santa, by courtesy of Royston Round Table, and to collect a free gift. Delighted children could also participate in cracker making, scratch art, and Christmas colour-in cards.

The day provided a well earned boost for the town’s businesses, who welcomed the extra footfall after a very intermittent trading year.

There will be a special Christmas Market on Saturday 14th December, 8am until 3pm.
