Spotlight On… The Old Schoolhouse, Royston

The Old Schoolhouse is a stunning 19th-century building in the heart of Royston, originally the town’s school. Trinity Life Church (TLC) bought the building in 2020 and has completed extensive renovation works throughout.  The Williams Hall is a spacious, bright function room ideal for larger meetings, seminars, conferences, community groups and events. The Walmsley room, located at the rear of the building, is a quiet, professional room ideal for private workspace, clinics or smaller meetings. The Old Schoolhouse also has a fully fitted kitchen suitable for event catering. There is disabled access throughout.

Matt Hall, Co-Pastor of TLC, says “It is a privilege for the church to own this wonderful building in a central location of the town. It is the ideal location for our church services however we want to see the building used to its full potential. Our vision is for The Old Schoolhouse to become a community hub, hosting local events and groups for local people and businesses.”

The Old Schoolhouse is already home to Make Lunch Royston and Pathways to Learning. The building also hosts a new dads and toddlers group called Dad’s United, which runs on the second Saturday of each month and is open to all dads with preschool children.

The Wellbeing Café is a weekly drop-in, open on Wednesdays between 10am-12noon. Free refreshments are provided along with activities, crafts, and a place to meet people and chat. The Wellbeing Cafe is also registered as one of Royston’s Warm Spaces.

Since being available for hire in Autumn 2022, The Old Schoolhouse has hosted a charity fundraising event, drop-in clinics, children’s birthday parties, and business meetings and is looking forward to its first weekend conference, booked for May 2023.
