Spotlight On… Royston Runners: Run Together, Achieve More
Royston Runners is a friendly local running club for runners of all levels from Royston and the surrounding villages. We welcome members of all abilities whether you’re an elite runner with competitive ambitions or a gentle jogger looking to meet like-minded individuals, or somewhere in-between.
‘I never thought by joining a running club I would make such amazing friends or go on so many fabulous adventures – and that 20 years later I would still be running, and loving it.’ Tracey, Royston Runner
The club meets each week on a Tuesday evening at the Heath, splitting into 7 to 8 groups based on speed. During the summer months these sessions take place on off-road trails and footpaths, the perfect way to explore new places and keep your running fresh and enjoyable.
For those looking to improve their running we also operate weekly speedwork sessions, mainly in Royston, but once a month we run on the athletics track in Stevenage. These coached sessions cater for everyone and are a great way to achieve your running potential.
‘I’d watched London Marathon on TV for many years till I finally felt driven to run it in 2016. I knew I could not do it on my own and found Royston Runners, who welcomed me in such a warm way that I now know is the way everybody is welcomed. It was the best decision I ever made.’ David, Royston Runner
On top of all that, members also have access to many resources, discounts and events. We also participate in local leagues across Hertfordshire and organise our own running events, the Harvest Trail in September, and Buntingford 10 in December (you can find details for these on our website).
If you’re interested in becoming a member, why not give it a go and see what you think. The club offers all potential members the chance to come along for a month for free.
