Our Curator Sophie and our collection volunteers have been working on our upcoming exhibition which explores Royston’s Victorian High Street.
Through objects, photographs and documents, the exhibition will focus on the stories of the people behind the counters.
The exhibition will open on Thursday 15th October and run through to Christmas.
We’ve been busy planning our festive activities as well as our 2027 calendar of events. This Christmas, we have drop-in creative activities, a festive talk for adults and kids printing workshops. Full details will be added to our website later this month. Plus, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November we’ll have 20% off in the shop as part of Museum Shop Sunday (some exclusions apply).

We have a range of typeset in the Museum’s collection; however, this donation means we now have typeset which can be used on the printing press. Funding from the Hertfordshire Association of Museums is enabling us to purchase the other equipment required, such as frames, and we’re hoping to start offering new printing workshops and activities soon.
The team continue to be busy behind the scenes at the Museum. As an accredited museum, we meet national standards in how we are run, how we care for our collections, and how we engage with our visitors. We’re currently working our ‘Accreditation Return’, which is where we demonstrate that we are continuing to meet these national standards.
